Your Genetic Make-Up
Sanford Health has clinical genetic counselors who are trained in both genetics and counseling. They are board certified and licensed. Genetic counseling integrates the interpretation of family history, genomics, and medical history to assess the chance of having a disease or having a disease return as well as educate about inheritance, testing, management, prevention, resources, and research. A genetic counselor provides counseling to make informed choices and adjust to the risk or condition.
Our laboratory genetic counselors have extensive clinical experience. Not only do they discuss genetic testing options, they are also there to analyze and interpret your test results as well as explain what your test results mean with you, your providers and care team.
Our clinical geneticists are physicians who are fellowship trained in genetics to diagnose and treat patients with genetic conditions. They provide counseling to individuals and families with inherited diseases and manage medical genetic services, including care plans, procedures and personnel.
Our board-certified and board-eligible laboratory directors are PhDs/MDs with expertise in genetic conditions and genetic/genomic testing. As Imagenetics laboratory leaders, each is responsible for oversight, management, quality and adherence to laboratory regulations. They ensure that laboratory results and reports are accurate, interpret genetic test results and discuss your results with your Sanford Health doctor.
Our clinical pharmacists review all pharmacogenetic results taking into consideration each patient’s specific needs to deliver accurate treatment guidance. Not only do they work closely with doctors to help provide guidance on optimal medication therapy, they also provide education to you, your providers and care team.
Our certified, highly knowledgeable laboratory technologists perform our genetic tests. Each has experience in many types of genetic testing and is responsible for making sure our instruments are working properly. They also participate in new test development to improve the process and ensure we deliver the best testing options for patients.
